We have so many reasons to cheer this month! 🥂 First, summer is here and everyone is out and about enjoying it!!! Next, we’re in the seventh month of celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary & on each blog we're adding giveaways and free downloads as party favors! And, now…we're excited about the REVEAL of our Coastal Farmhouse Primary Bathroom Design in the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE!!!
The Spring ‘21, One Room Challenge™ with Better Homes & Gardens as the official media partner, is a supportive, enthusiastic event held twice a year. It is not a competition, instead a celebration of creative and inspiring ideas. A combination of selected Featured Designers and Guest Participants link up the transformations of their rooms onto the ORC Blog for eight weeks. Every Thursday, for the last two months, the internet and social media have been swamped with progress photos and encouraging comments!
We challenged ourselves, our clients and our trades to complete this primary bathroom remodel as quickly as possible! We transformed a gloomy and outdated, non-functional space into a stunning coastal retreat! With time constraints such as these, we are forced to perform with urgency and efficiency, which contributes to a high value return for everyone! A tight-knit team is essential and requires that we rely heavily on the other to execute the project effectively. Most importantly, the client was blown-away with the final product. The result is the vacation oasis our clients had always dreamed of, and now in the comforts of their own home!
Our clients wishlist included a steam shower, an optional bathtub, a coastal vibe and extra storage.
1. STEAM SHOWER - With our floor plan lay-out, the best space for the steam shower was directly in front of the large picture window, which also was the only source of light in the room. We selected to use this large space of real estate, remove the existing window and replace it with a transom. Then, we creatively opened the space with a glass exterior door and one more window over the toilet, illuminating the whole area.
2. OPTIONAL TUB - In this small space, we were limited, therefore we did not have room for a bathtub. To rectify this challenge, we took advantage of the new exterior door and poured a concrete slab outside and added a hot tub.
3. COASTAL VIBE - What was dark and drab with a dessert look is now a fresh and inviting coastal spa. From the pebbles on the shower floor to the added starfish accents, it looks as if a cool sea breeze is consistently flowing through.
4. EXTRA STORAGE - Again, in a small space we were limited, however, by reconfiguring the foot print, we were able to add a tower to the new custom vanity and a custom hair salon station, in one of the cabinet drawers. In addition to the added storage, we tapped into creative options as well.

Wondering where we got that cute basket, what tile we used, or even where the eucalyptus in the shower is from? Download our free Product Source Guide to get all the deets!
As a Guest Participant, we shared the good, bad and ugly through each step with everyone on social media. With each progress post we documented all of the daily decisions and included a look behind the curtain in a lighthearted ORC Story Highlight on our Instagram page.
We LOVED the feedback from our client, our community, and our fellow participants! We did this together!
